Neither the color (though I'm not a fan of pink) or the way it breaks up the lines of the building.

It's trying a bit to hard to say, "Look at me! I'm more than an boring looking office building. I have a quirky character. Look at my new socks!"

Admittedly, I've never been keen on the mid-century clean lines thing. They just look boring to me.CBRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15682127395695079480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826793.post-30806304196852156762009-02-18T13:00:00.000-06:002009-02-18T13:00:00.000-06:00Mmmm, bad cheese. I do hates me some (add-on) split-face brick and concrete, yessir. Have to agree on the hotel, too. If they were really looking to improve the entrance, they could have started by replacing the broken and uneven concrete along 4th St.Matt Fernandezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16990905013819727814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826793.post-68047060547011506582009-02-17T21:26:00.000-06:002009-02-17T21:26:00.000-06:00I agree - the "socks" are distracting and obviousl...I agree - the "socks" are distracting and obviously out of line with the aesthetic. It's almost worse that the fantastic signage is still intact because you it makes you so aware of what was.

The real travesty is the attempt to assimilate with the Hampton Inn. An instantly dated, and pretentious (good call) renovation.

Who is the firm/contractor responsible, do you suppose? I would be very interested to hear about the justification for that change.

Great Blog!Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05270856816649949980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826793.post-1771747887064415842009-02-17T21:23:00.000-06:002009-02-17T21:23:00.000-06:00OMG, those are horrible!OMG, those are horrible!Steve Pattersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03877775040068304139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826793.post-44541670052959582532009-02-17T21:16:00.000-06:002009-02-17T21:16:00.000-06:00Those pink socks... are you f##king serious??? How come St. Louis always manages to pull off awful redevelopment projects, yet when something smart, sensible and asthetically pleasing is proposed, it gets stalled? Why can't some of these horrid building renovations such as the ones documented in this post fall through? This city is so progressive at being regressive.STLgasmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13637030307305896833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826793.post-23307604761152928752009-02-17T20:18:00.000-06:002009-02-17T20:18:00.000-06:00I can't believe someone actually spent money on th...I can't believe someone actually spent money on this.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00654629805975076136noreply@blogger.com
