US Attorney Indicts Doug Hartmann

Today the US Attorney's office announced that it is indicting mortgage fraud artist Doug Hartmann for bank and mail fraud. Hartmann's scheme involved nearly 250 properties, including scores of historic houses in the city of St. Louis and the Nord St. Louis Turnverein, which burned last July under Hartmann's ownership.

The Post-Dispatch has the story here.

You could always tell when DHP had some new investors interested in looking into one of the "current" opportunities. A bunch of vans would pull up to the property, about 12 guys would get out, act like they were working and then pull off the job once the "suits" left. It is about time this happened.

I wonder why the PD didn't mention that he is a slumlord?

The PD doesn't know how to do investigative reporting. the writer probably never even read the RFT story on Hartmann that came out last year.

I have dealt with these guys and many more like him, he'll get whats coming to him, but you don't have to lie about it, who ever posted that at 7:34 on the 13th has no clue what their talking about, just another person who wants to act like they know what is going on.

Read the indictment on Hartmann. That is exactly one of the things he's accused of.

Faking work for the benefit of bank auditors -- so it would look like progress was being made on building -- when in actuality no renovation was occuring and he'd already pocketed the contruction money.
