Bowling Museum Leaving St. Louis
KMOX is reporting that the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame is leaving St. Louis by the end of this year for a new home in Arlington, Texas. The attraction was the only part of Ballpark Village that could not be characterized as an eyesore. Its departure out of the development quagmire there is no surprise, but its move out of St. Louis is a stunning blow to a city that once took its bowling seriously. There's something sad about losing any national museum -- especially since we have so few. Meanwhile the only regulation-sized bowling lanes that remain open within the city limits are operated by churches.

Terrible decision on their part. Arlington is suburban hell. It's miles from anything convenient, and you're forced to drive there from Dallas or Ft. Worth. Part of the reason the Texas Rangers are pathetic- it's not worth trying to get there.
Lebowski Fest was held at the International Bowling Hall of Fame.

Well, there isn't a literal connection, Dude.
Maybe all that talk about eminent domaining them out of the way for Ballpark Village didn't make them too happy.
That said, speaking as a museum professional, the Bowling Museum was one of the worst museums I have been to in the world. It is a bit of loss, but not much.
BTW, Joe Edward's bowling alleys are in St. Louis City, aren't they?
Pinup Bowl is barely in the West End Neighborhood. I'm not sure if that's "regulation" though.
This may not be Cooperstown, but Bowling isn't Baseball. The fact we're loosing it for a hole in the ground is an obvious indictment of our ridiculous lack-of-planning and crackpot priorities.
I agree Doug, though in hindsight it seems that they might have been secretly planning to ditch St. Louis for a while, unfortunately.

Yes, but there is also Flamingo Bowl on Washington. Probably not "regulation" either, though.
Don't forget the bowling alley at the Moolah as well.
