Historic Preservation Should Be Part of St. Louis Public Schools Facilities Plan

I heard that there are deed restrictions on public school buildings that have been closed that restrict charter or private schools from buying the properties and reopening them as new school buildings. Wouldn't that be one way to accomplish the goal of historic preservation of school buildings--allowing schools with private financing to help renovate those buildings, keeping them as schools but re-purposed for a changing neighborhood?
